Neptune EMX 125 Electronic Mixing Valve 943020
The Neptune EMX 125 Electronic Mixing Valve 943020 is an ASSE 1017 listed electronic tempering valve system designed to control domestic hot water temperature.
The EMX is designed for domestic hot water systems with a return line and a continuously operating recirculation pump. It is not intended for gang shower applications; the supplied product information specifies using an ASSE 1069 approved valve for those applications.
Key Features
- 1-1/4" inlets and outlet.
- Stainless steel construction.
- ASSE 1017 and NSF 372 lead-free listed.

- Controls water temperature to ±2°F in accordance with ASSE 1017.
- Low Load algorithm helps maintain temperature during low-demand periods.
- Valve remains in its last position during a power failure.
- Automatic hot/cold water shutoff upon cold/hot water inlet supply failure.
- Recommended recirculation pipe size: 1" or greater.
- Programmable high-temperature alarm function.
- Programmable set point range from 95°F to 180°F.
- Default set temperature: 120°F.
- Control box supplied with a 4 ft. 120 VAC power cord and NEMA 4 enclosure.
- Modbus communication standard.
- Designed for integration into BMS systems.
- Operating voltage: 24 VDC.
- User commissioning and setup controls.
- Displays outlet temperature.
- Removable and serviceable thermocouple probe.
- Factory assembled and tested.
- Minimum hot water supply temperature: 2°F (1°C) above set point with equal incoming pressures.
Flow Capacity
| Valve | Inlet Size | 5 PSI | 10 PSI | 20 PSI | 30 PSI |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neptune EMX 125 | 1-1/4" | 41.4 GPM | 58.6 GPM | 83 GPM | 101 GPM |
Capacity values shown above correspond to the listed pressure drop across the valve.
Typical Installation
Install the mixing valve below the hot water tank or water heater. If this is not possible, install a heat trap with an approximate 2 ft. drop as shown in the installation diagram.
Connect a tempered-water return line as shown in the installation diagram. This allows flow through both ports of the mixing valve during periods of no draw.
If a dual-temperature system is used, a separate recirculation loop and pump are required to return high-temperature hot water to the water heater. Install the water heater according to the water heater manufacturer's instructions.
